ABOUT US:
Our team started out as a group of four who participated in the Global Issues Problem Solving competition, which is an international competition under the Future Problem Solving program that stresses problem solving and critical thinking. Another aspect of the Future Problem Solving program focuses on identifying and addressing issues in the community. In 2019, our team decided to expand to 6 members and focus on addressing education inequality in our community. We felt that the contrasts in both the access to and quality of education were relevant problems that we could address. Last year, we held a project to collect school supplies, as well as personal hygiene products, for a local school for homeless students. This year, we are holding our virtual Spark 2021 Conference to introduce students across San Diego to a variety of professional speakers.

WHY H.O.P.E. TO H.Y.P.E.
After a year under the name Project H.O.P.E., we realized our mission was targeting youth specifically. By narrowing the "O" from others to "Y" for youth, we've become more directed in our pursuit of helping our fellow youth gain more opportunities in education & learning. In addition, in order to stand out, we wanted a name that was different from the rest and memorable compared to the numerous other projects in the Community Problem Solving Program that attribute the word "hope" to their titles.
